This October, Carequality welcomed four new members to the Steering Committee:
We strive to include representatives from across the entire healthcare industry, and our new members fit that bill. They join an already diverse committee, and I look forward to the varied perspectives they will bring to its work.
The Steering Committee is responsible for Carequality’s strategic direction, and for the development and oversight of the Carequality interoperability framework. Currently led by Chair Dr. Michael Hodgkins, of the American Medical Association, and Vice Chair Hans Buitendijk, of Cerner, committee members are focused on defining our vision and business model, and settling key decisions as we move our consensus-built framework for inter-network connectivity into production operation.
This initial rollout remains the committee’s immediate priority, as it finalizes the work products that will enable implementation. These deliverables include an implementation guide, legal agreements, and a dispute resolution process.
The committee is also moving beyond the initial rollout to map out the initiative’s other work for the coming year. Possibilities include additional functionality for the current query-based document exchange use case, and entirely new use cases with accompanying implementation guides and policies.
Carequality shares updates, including on the Steering Committee’s activities, monthly with the membership and the interested public. Visit The Sequoia Project events calendar to find all our upcoming Carequality meetings.
