In 2023, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and The Sequoia Project, as the Recognized Coordinating Entity, announced the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) was operational, and designated the nation’s first Qualified Health Information Networks to begin exchanging patient data.
